Heeding Haiku with Chèvrefeuille: Summer Solstice

At the beginning of the day on the summer solstice, I leave my body sleeping and walk in dreams to a place I will never see in life. I watch the sunrise through rocks mysteriously stacked long ago and wonder if it was possible that I was there in some form.

Do I have a connection to a time and place I could not possibly have known in my current reality, or do I merely wish that I was more important than I am? Did I once have wisdom and abilities forgotten by the passage of centuries and lifetimes, or am I merely a pathetic creature who wishes there was a possibility that I might not be as utterly hopeless and wretched as I appear?

There was a time when I believed in one God and a single savior. Then came the time that I believed in many deities and no specific savior. At this point, I neither believe nor disbelieve in any specific thing, except that I think the god postulated by most organized religious institutions is a construct created to give adherents carte blanche to behave cruelly.

is there someone there

or are we alone?

Note:

It is not my intent to belittle anyone's faith. The thoughts I express are mine and mine alone. I neither believe nor disbelieve in any particular deity or set of deities, including the Christian god. My final paragraph is a criticism of the sorts of people who use their religion to behave as intolerant bigots and to cause harm to those who do not adhere to their dogma and edicts.

Giving a Gift to People of Different Religions

I respectfully disagree with this man's thoughts, although, of course, he is certainly welcome to conduct his life as he wishes and does not require my permission.

I will admit that I'm not religious in the conventional sense. I practice Pagan/nature worship, but I do so in my own way.

I think it would be a nice gesture of tolerance and an attempt at understanding if a non-Pagan were to give me a gift in honor of one of our holidays. I would accept that gift graciously.

The Immortal Soul by Camden Christadelphia

So the fellow in the video postulates that there is no immortal soul to survive death.
Fine, you might say. Thus, he is an atheist. He doesn't believe in life after death.
This is where the WTF comes in.
He is not an atheist.
He is a Christian.
He states that the idea of the immortal soul comes from Greek beliefs.
Fine, but...
If there is no immortal soul...
Then why should anyone give a rat's behind about worshiping God, Satan, Cthulhu, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or anything else?
(Although worshiping the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Cthulhu is pretty cool regardless of whether or not we have souls.)
This guy says, "the man is the soul," and "a live dog is better than a dead lion."
He is using the word "soul" in the context of "person," i.e. "Spectra is a good soul."
(Well, actually he wouldn't think I'm a good soul. I'm a heathen, Pagan blasphemer.)
But if the "soul" is the body and the consciousness all wrapped in one, and when it dies, poof, we're gone...
THEN WHO GIVES A FLYING CRAP WHETHER OR NOT WE WORSHIP THE GOD THAT THIS GUY SAYS WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE WORSHIPING?
What difference does it make if we are exalted or damned if we have ceased to exist?

Admissibly, I haven't listened to any of the guy's other stuff. My soul is too befuddled to even consider it at the moment.
