If I'm Living on Borrowed Time, Do You Think I'm Gonna Waste My Time Conforming?

Current age: 62 and has no memories of his accomplishments or his family and friends.
Age at onset of dementia: 55 (and fuck you, Universe)

Lewy Body Dementia discovered post-suicide Age: 63

The Real Cie's aunt: probable Lewy Body Dementia, age of diagnosis: 72

Me: Age 49, will be 50 on February 15.

TRIGGER WARNING: DISCUSSION OF SUICIDE IDEATION
Here's what I'm noticing. This kind of shit seems to be happening in younger and younger people. I'm not a scientist. Nor am I particularly given to believing in conspiracy theories. The Illumin-Naughty seem as likely to exist as the Illuminati, as far as I'm concerned. But I do see a pattern.
I think our world is polluted as fuck, and it's killing us in various and horrible ways. I think all the people succumbing to these shitty forms of dementia have been poisoned by our toxic environment, and it isn't going to get any better anytime soon.
I evidently have a genetic trigger for this shit, and I have been thinking. I may be living on borrowed time. And if I am, I'm going to off myself when I get the diagnosis. I've taken care of people with dementia for all but five years since 1988. I am not putting myself or my son through that shit.
Given that there's a fair possibility that I'm living on borrowed time, do you know what the fuck I'm not going to do?
Care about a bunch of rules set down by a bunch of stodgy, imagination-impaired, heartless, inflexible assholes.
Believe as I do. Don't believe as I do. I really don't care. But don't fucking tell me how to think and feel. I was never going to conform to your standards anyway. Given that I may only have five or ten years left, I'm going to conform to them even less.
I have an open mind about metaphysical possibilities. I'm not going to close my mind because my beliefs make some people uncomfortable.
I love what and who I love. If you have a problem with that, take a look in the damn mirror as you point your finger at me. Then take a look at the three fingers pointing back at you.
I'm actually not afraid of this possibility. I'm pretty stoic about it. I've had suicide ideation pretty much all my life. I'm not afraid to die. My life hasn't been an easy one. Sometimes I think the easiest thing in the world would be to down a whole bunch of pills with a butt ton of alcohol and just let the world fuck off at last. I'm sick and tired of hearing what a fuckup I am echoing in my damn head all the time.
I'm not doing it today. So don't get your hackles up searching my URL to try and find out where I'm located. This isn't a "right now" suicide note. This is a "if I'm diagnosed with dementia I'm offing myself" note. Because fuck that shit.
So anyway, if I believe in the possibility of ghosts and incarnate people communicating with each other and maybe even becoming friends or falling in love, who the fuck is anyone else to tell me I can't believe that?
If I believe the personality survives the death of the body, who the fuck is anyone to tell me I can't believe that?
If I believe in an afterlife, but not an afterlife that adheres to some particular set of dogma created by a bunch of stodgy old fucks to control the masses, well, that is what I believe. If it brings you comfort to think of me frying in a fiery pit because of my beliefs, perhaps you're the sick fuck, not me.
If I believe in reincarnation, how the fuck is that hurting you?
People are always so all-fired hot to tell other people what they should and shouldn't think and feel. I've had it up to here with that shit. None of us knows for sure what happens after we die. My theories are as valid as anyone else's. More to the point, I don't shove them down anybody's throat.
I guess my point is this. I don't know if I'm living on borrowed time or not, but I damn well could be. Do you think I'm gonna waste that time trying to please anybody by conforming to their particular reality? I can't live your damn reality, nor do I want to. I can only live my own.
Stop trying to tell other people what to believe, think and feel. As long as what you're doing isn't hurting anybody else, it's nobody's damn business.
One thing I aim to do. When I do get to the other side, whenever that is, I am going to give both of the dudes pictured a great big warm hug, because they both touched my life for the better and both pulled me through when I was a very sad, lonely, and bullied teenager. I wished both of them could be my friends.
I totally shipped "Mork" as my best platonic friend back in the day, and you will never guess which band was Mork's and my favorite. When you're a sad and miserable twelve or thirteen year old, that kind of thing can mean a lot.
When people judge another person's reality based on their own set of experiences, they do the person they're judging a great disservice.
Both Malcolm Young and Robin Williams taught me a lot. The biggest thing they taught me is that having compassion is the most important thing. As neither of them are conventionally attractive, they also taught me that true beauty is in the soul. Not that either of them are ugly, but neither of them would ever be considered "hunky" by any stretch of the imagination.
Both of them struggled with depression and addiction issues. These are certainly things to which I can relate.
These are beautiful people--truly beautiful people, not Hollywood hyped beautiful on the outside hollow on the inside glamour seeking glory grabbers. If I do end up being one of the many succumbing to the horror of dementia, at least I will know I am in glorious company. I love you Mal, and I love you Robin. And I do not give one single fuck what anyone thinks of that statement.
I guess I've said what I need to say. It pretty well boils down to this. Quit fucking judging. You do not know what another person is going through or what they have been through. Since you haven't experienced their life, you aren't qualified to judge it.
I can't live as if there's no tomorrow, because my Last Day may be here sooner than I ever would have imagined. I have to get what I can done in what time I may have left. I'm not wasting that time conforming to anyone else's bullshit standards.

If I Only Could...

The Daily Post asks: What if you could go back and rewrite history? Then postulates that I could.
The one thing that I would do is somehow go in and tweak the brain of the sweet, smart, talented, beautiful creature in the picture above so that it wasn't deteriorating on him and leaving him so he doesn't remember his life, can't remember how to play the guitar, can't remember his children and the younger brother with whom he was apparently able to communicate telepathically, and doesn't even really know who he is.
(Note: the given link is safe. However, it is on a blog that should be considered NSFW as it contains explicit erotic material, including some explicit images.)
If I could make this happen, almost everything I've written in the past two months would disappear. The wonderful, life-altering metaphysical experiences I've had during this time would cease to exist, and I would be back to being the way I was before, which was pretty well dead inside with my world being nothing but shades of gray and a long, slow walk to the grave. I would knowingly do it, just like I would give birth to my son again, full well knowing how much pain it would cause me. (I nearly died giving birth to my son, and I have never known such severe pain.)
Malcolm's physical brain is being eradicated by a horrific disease, but his soul never can be. His soul is resplendent and powerful. Still, I also know he's felt terror during the times when he knew that his mind was being destroyed. No-one should ever have to feel such a thing. I would like to take that from him. If I could, I would switch places with him, even knowing that my life would become hell. He is far more important than I ever could be.
What would I could do if I could rewrite history?
Cure Malcolm Young.
I wish it were as simple as it sounds.
He saved my life when I was a troubled and bullied teenager by giving me the knowledge that there were people out there who cared about people like me. More recently, he brought color to my world when his soul touched mine in an attempt to comfort me because my grief over his illness was so great, but I would give that back in a heartbeat to make him well.
He is angelic and divine in nature and should not be destroyed. That such a horrible thing could happen makes me sick and proves to me that the physical plane is a place of torture and sorrow. I wish I had the power to rewrite the history at the end of his life and save him
I know how what I've written makes me seem to those with a narrow perspective.
I don't care.

It's a poor substitute for giving him back his mind and his life, but damn it, he will not be forgotten easily.

Fuck you, Lewy Body Dementia.
Diseases of this nature are proof that evil exists.

If I only could, I'd make a deal with God
And get him to swap our places

Mantra for Study and Sharpening the Mind

Won

Won

Prompt used:

Most of the time these days I don't share my personal thoughts very much. I used to blog fairly prolifically about my mental health issues and my metaphysical beliefs. I no longer do. I used to cling to the idea that I could help others with my honesty, but I actually wasn't being true to myself.
Today, I will talk about my Won.
I once believed that it was my destiny to become famous. This is probably part and parcel of my psych disorder. I thought that I had an important message to impart to the world. At the point in my life when I was religious, I believed that I was sent by God to do so.
I discovered that I actually dislike pursuing fame. I'm a very vulnerable person. I don't like opening myself up to the kind of scrutiny that fame requires. I wish that people wouldn't be so mean and judgmental, but they are.
Losing my quest for fame was similar to losing my desire to drink. Believe me, I once loved to toss one or six back. You think I'm talking about beer? Silly you. I'm talking about Long Island Iced Teas. I liked to party. I liked to get down. When I stopped being able to drink, it became very difficult for me to socialize.
I've spent the last five years figuring out what the hell to do with myself without the pursuit of fame.
Fame is an illusory and fickle master. Those who become famous don't necessarily remain that way. Fame has a way of destroying those it creates.
I found out a lot about fame when I decided I no longer wanted to pursue it. It was sort of like finding out that my perfect husband was actually cheating his way through town with every man, woman, and sometimes underaged person that he could get his hands on, and on top of that he was having people killed.
I'm going to make a long story short. There were a lot of hurtful events leading up to my eventual decision. There was a lot of backstabbing by people who called themselves "friends," and a lot of losing parts of myself that I'd always held dear.
One of these so called "friends" caused me to lose the belief in the part of myself which was able to reach beyond the material world and touch the spiritual levels. I said that I would never connect the the worlds beyond again. This decision caused not only me but my creativity to suffer. I went into a Dark Night of the Soul.
Recent events on a metaphysical level (which I am going to be cagey about) have led to some of those parts returning. There is someone I can never thank enough. My connection to the spirit world was always very important to me. When I lost it, I lost a big part of myself. Thanks to this special soul, that connection has returned.
I will never again pursue fame, but I am no longer so hardline as I was before on the idea of never publishing again outside of blogging.
Getting rid of the Won that I had to be famous to do good was the first step.
Getting rid of the Won that I had to do things other people's way to be in tune with the world beyond was the second step. I could not have done this without help.
I'm the shout it from the rooftops type of person. I wish I could reveal more about this turning-point situation, but I really can't. Suffice it to say, it has made all the difference.
There are those who will scoff at what I'm saying here. There are those who won't scoff but also won't believe me.
For the scoffers, it is not my job to persuade you. I am not the Jerk Whisperer.
It isn't my job to persuade anyone else either. I won't be sucked into the "prove it or it doesn't exist" argument as I have in the past. I don't tell you how to believe. I trust you will return the favor.
Some people will say that what I experience is part of my mental illness. I truly believe that it is not. I have always been able to discern between concrete physical reality and those things that can't be proven by hard science. Bipolar type 2 does not tend to present with hallucinations or illusions. I've had both before, usually as the result of medication or illicit drugs, or in some cases extreme lack of sleep. I can tell when I'm hallucinating.
I do not generally see spirits, although I have seen them on two occasions. I sense their emotions. I have fairly pronounced empathic abilities.
In any case, regardless of whatever anyone else may believe, I have some very important parts of myself back, and I have shed the millstone of fame that was hanging around the neck of my soul.
I feel hope and I feel love.
I refuse to believe that these things are Won.
I tried to be completely secular for too long. That isn't me.
I am not religious, but I have spiritual beliefs.
I will not let my soul be stolen from me again.

UFO? Yes. Spacecraft? Not Enough Information

I like the voice of the fellow making the video. It's nice and mellow.
I'm not going to say that I believe this is a spacecraft. I will say I don't discount the possibility of life on other planets. Actually, statistics are in favor of such.

Gargleblaster: The Demiurge Responds to the Ultimate Question

Why do you keep doing this to us?” pleaded the mournful population of the suffering world.
Quoth the Demiurge:
“You ungrateful parasites are the architects of your own suffering. I am merely the architect of the realm wherein you dwell and destroy.”

~Aurora~

Author Note:
So, this is a response to the Gargleblaster 179 prompt on the Yeah Write website. I'm entering it mostly as a lark. I generally don't enter contests, as I write for enjoyment rather than accolades. I don't consider myself a particularly "good" writer, although some people seem to enjoy reading what I splatter on the page.
I expect exactly nothing from throwing my work to the wolves. However, if you're the sort who enjoys writing contests, you could end up winning actual money. Please click the link to find out the details!
I chose the Demiurge as my protagonist as the poor soul tends to get a bad rap, and I wanted to give equal time to zir point of view.

From the B.S. Files: The Chronovisor

I keep an open mind. I'm not saying that time travel is is impossible, I'm just saying that a way of doing so hasn't been created yet, at least not on Earth. I am open to the idea that there are other planets that support life, and that some of that life may be very technologically advanced.
This "Chronovisor" device, however, is obvious hooey.

R is for Religion

Religion can be helpful. Having something to believe in can bolster people's resolve to live through tough times. The spiritual aspect can help people cope with the sometimes heartbreaking difficulties that arise in life. Religion can help people become more forgiving of one another's foibles. That is what happens when religion is used in the right way.
Religion can also be a terrible thing. Religious fanatics can come to believe that those who don't see the world as they do are bad people who deserve to suffer. Zealots actually do their belief system a disservice, causing people to close their minds to any aspects of religion and go in the opposite direction, becoming acerbic nihilists.
I have no problem with believers of whatever stripe, or with non-believers, so long as they are not overbearing. I have issues with people who tell me that if I don't believe as they do, I'm a bad person who is condemned to some sort of eternal suffering. Any deity that would do such a thing simply because a person doesn't worship zir seems like an egomaniac, and I have no interest in paying tribute to an egomaniac.
Conversely, I don't care for people who tell me that if I have any spiritual beliefs, or even feel that certain aspects of metaphysical or spiritual speculation are possible, that I'm an ignorant dupe.
I have my own thoughts on the matter, but since nobody knows for sure what the truth is, I keep an open mind.
The reason I'm thinking so much about this is the fact that I find it difficult when I come to overtly religious blogs on the A to Z challenge. I could just leave and say nothing, and that might even be the best thing to do. But I somehow feel rude not even leaving an acknowledgement that I visited.
I usually do something like remark on the beauty of the picture with their post, or tell them they have a nice family, or congratulate them on an event if they are blogging about such. I leave religion out of my comment and concentrate on basic politeness. Then I cross my fingers and hope that they are of a more liberal spirit, even if they are devout, and won't come nipping at my heels trying to convert me with threats of fire and brimstone. It isn't that I fear them, or their fire and brimstone. The fact is, I don't want to end up being rude, which is what usually happens when people persist in trying to shove unpalatable ideals down my throat.
Religion is like an axe or a knife. It is a tool. It can be used productively or destructively.

Turn It Over To a Higher Power

He calls it the Holy Spirit. One could also call it the Universe. There is no one right way. There is the way that works for you, and that is the right way for you.

Giving a Gift to People of Different Religions

I respectfully disagree with this man's thoughts, although, of course, he is certainly welcome to conduct his life as he wishes and does not require my permission.
I will admit that I'm not religious in the conventional sense. I practice Pagan/nature worship, but I do so in my own way.
I think it would be a nice gesture of tolerance and an attempt at understanding if a non-Pagan were to give me a gift in honor of one of our holidays. I would accept that gift graciously.

Maharishi Mahesh on Desire as a Catalyst for Change

Uploaded on Oct 24, 2011
http://www.TM.org How a desire rises with the full support of Natural Law in an orderly brain - Maharishi

1. (Dr. Hagelin:) Thank you so very much, Maharishi, for these beautiful, very compassionate and lucid
remarks today. As Maharishi said, bliss is not difficult; it only takes a few minutes to locate a chair and
experience the bliss of unbounded awareness with Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation program.
Invincibility for a country is a matter of days--just a matter of organizing and training groups of peace promoting
experts. So the world is poised for a complete transformation. And Maharishi is compassionately
offering that scientifically proven knowledge, and the only scientifically proven knowledge that has the
capacity to bring peace and to transform civilization quickly, easily and delightfully. Maharishi, this week
and next week, much of the world is moving towards a holiday time of celebration of Christmas and
Hanukkah and Kwaanza. The hubbub of politics in Washington, D.C., has settled down with Congress gone
and the international diplomatic community also leaving to go home to their countries to celebrate a period
of rest and of peace. And the questions this week are focusing on deeper issues of enlightenment, of God
realization, and of prayer. The first question is a follow-up of Maharishi's remark of last week about desire:
Maharishi has said that the ability to fulfill one's desires is the key to living an invincible life. Maharishi
explained that when a desire is consciously created at the source of thought, the ocean of consciousness, then
that desire will be fulfilled because it has the support of all the laws of nature. Maharishi, what kind of desire
will be created from the source of thought? Will it be an individual's desire or God's desire?

2. Maharishi: Every desire is for fulfillment. A wave may be rising but not knowing that the point of rising
itself is the source, is the goal of it. When the wave settles down, then it is ocean. When it rises into
something, then it becomes isolated, and it comes in space and time. And when it sinks, it goes beyond
boundaries, beyond space and time. If this silence at the source of thought is open to our awareness, then our
awareness is the field of all possibility.

3. As opposed to thoughts arising from the source of thought, thoughts may arise as the winds of the
environment. The eyes see this and speech hears this, and the thoughts float from one area of surface to the
other area of surface. This is life of the sensory perception. And when one transcends, then one gets to the
source of all thoughts. Source of all seeing is in that field which is the basis of all, the source of thought, the
source of hearing, the source of touch, the source of all the five senses.

4. Whatever we want in the field of vision, get to the source of thought from where the vision begins, and
then you'll be able to see anything within your Self. That is Vedic education, from where you can have what
you want within your Self.

5. The conscious mind could be thinking consciously at the source of thought, the transcendental field of
life, the field of the Veda. Veda we define to be the Constitution of the Universe, the laws of Nature that
conduct the galactic universe here, there and everywhere.

6. The purpose of Vedic University and the University of Peace, is to open TC, Atma, the Unified Field to
our single awareness. The formula is yogasthah kuru karmani. That means: "Established in the state of
Unity-established in Unified Field-you perform action."

7. When you are established in the Unified Field, then your performance is the performance of the Unified
Field, it is the expression of the whole creation. You are there as the silent doer of the entire universal
administration of the enormous ever-expanding universe. This is Vedic education, education of total
knowledge.

8. Giving the students this knowledge in their education years will be fulfilling the government's parental
role for the people.

9. There are all kinds of gross and subtle practices that express humanity rising to divinity. Devotional
practices, songs, melodies, prayers, mass meetings in churches, collective meditation, collective devotional
practices. What is special in our message is the practical experience of that Unified Field, and the
transformation of the atmosphere through these collective meditations.

10. The main thing is conscious awareness of the totality of the Constitution of the Universe, totality of
Natural Law, which is so simple through the programs of the Peace Government.

11. Education should be experience of the Self primarily. Once the experience of the Self is there, the child
will succeed in anything he would want to do, because Natural Law will do all that he can do.

12. Parents will be fortunate to give children Total Knowledge.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi started teaching Transcendental Meditation in 1957.

Try to Understand

I am not terribly knowledgeable about Islam. The Muslims that I know are definitely peaceful people. It was upsetting to see the way they were attacked following 9/11, being grouped with extremists.
Extremism of any kind is always destructive.
We need to try harder to understand one another.
In the end, we all bleed red.

The Lord's Supper

Here is a unique cartoon explaining why one must be baptized in order to receive the sacrament.
I was raised Catholic, and I honestly don't think I ever heard this explained, although, to be fair, I'm in my late forties now, and catechism classes were a long time ago.

Might They Be Giants?

Oh, the COMMENTS! (Rolls eyes.)
The idea that there was a tribe of "giants" is in no way supernatural. There are living "giants" today, and not only in the form of people with a genetic mutation causing acromegaly. The Dinka, Maasai, and Watusi people are all taller than average. It is not unusual for a person of Watusi heritage to reach seven feet tall.
The Congolese-born NBA star Dikembe Mutombo stands seven feet two inches tall.
The author also postulates that there were people in the Americas who did not come here via the land bridge but rather were members of sea-faring societies.
People can agree or disagree with this man, and I don't take issue with people believing in a Supreme Being (or beings.) I am personally agnostic on that matter at this juncture of my life. However, it is distressing to see people, whether religious or irreligious, utilizing rhetoric against reason. The comments are rife with people who are the sort who would argue that the Earth is flat despite all evidence to the contrary. They maintain this belief simply because it's what they were told and refuse to open their minds to other possibilities.
The land bridge theory is really only a theory. This man's sea-faring people's theory is also a theory. Evidence that there were tribes of very tall people, who could have been referred to as "giants" is proof neither for nor against the existence of any deity. There are portions of the Judeo-Christian bible which can be historically verified. These are also not evidence for or against the existence of a deity.
Getting into the fray would have been fruitless. All of the commenters were locked in the "my way or the highway" mode. There is no such thing as having a reasonable discussion with such people.

The Century of the Self

I just purchased this set of videos and may discuss them further once I've had a chance to view them. I chose to post about the concepts on this blog, although I could just have well have posted them on Crazy Town in Looney Land or Sly Fawkes.
I wanted to discuss this kind of brainwashing from the perspective of what it does to a person's soul. Most advertising is a form of psychic attack. Much of it is loud and aggressive. There is an implication that if you are not some sort of perfect being, you are not just ordinary, you are a loser. But you can stop being a loser if only you will utilize certain products.
It's frightening how easy it is to make people buy into these ideas. Many people have ceased to think for themselves. They want someone else to tell them what to do. They want someone to give them a product that will make them eternally beautiful, glamorous, and desirable. They want to have the right products to make them the envy as others. Only if they are wearing the right clothes and driving the right car while talking on the right smart phone can they truly be cool.
In the world of advertising, thinking is not cool.
In order to save ourselves from becoming mindless sheeple, we need to stop worrying about being cool.
Don't do what everybody else does.
Do what is right.
It is better to walk alone than to follow the crowd to your doom.
I haven't had television in my house in over a year. I don't miss being bombarded by ads telling me what a wretch I am one single bit.

Rotting Christ: Visions of the Dead Lovers

The old glory is failed
The old emperor in a lonely empire
Eternity so shiny
But followed by noone
Among the crowd
Princes & kings
Those who defeated
All lovers... of monarchy
The sky is mourning
Near to the sun... human blood
It's too late for nation
After this misery
A bigger one is coming
The promised centuries... recycling
The dog have died
Around the tyrant
Mythic sovereigns
In sea and land
Shout loud
But voices come back
The eagle has throwned
The beast has enough
The days of the omen
Visions of the dead lovers

Read more: Rotting Christ - Visions Of The Dead Lovers Lyrics | MetroLyrics

Here is why I have no problem with this video, although I still identify as Catholic, albeit a very unorthodox one.
The video was not disparaging the suffering that Jesus endured. In fact, it showed a fairly accurate depiction of the horrors of crucifixion. Anyone being killed in this manner would have suffered greatly.
Whether or not they believe in Jesus as the Messiah, they respect the fact that Jesus the man suffered. This video in no way mocks that suffering. In fact, it asks us to examine whether any of the followers of Jesus truly realize what he endured, or if he is for them simply a symbol of their belief system. To make him simply a symbol is to deny the real horrors he was subjected to.
The band professes anti-religious beliefs, stating that Christianity is one of the worst things to happen in human history. In many ways, they are correct. For the most part, Christianity has had nothing to do with Jesus other than to use him as sort of a holy enforcer. In other words, if you don't do what we say  Jesus says, you are going to endure eternal torment in the fiery pit.
Jesus the activist, Jesus the kind, forgiving person, Jesus the evolved soul would have deplored the tactics of the so called "Christian" church. Jesus loved the outcasts. The "flock" of most churches sanctimoniously pushes the outcasts away. They do not want the homeless, the mentally ill, the unpretty making their house of worship look bad.
Jesus would deplore the existence of mega-churches.
In any case, I have a much bigger problem with the theocratic extreme right in the United States today than I do with the viewpoint of the members of Rotting Christ that religion is a social negative. It is a social negative because of the fact that it has been primarily used as a political tool to control people, no matter what the claim may be.
I actually do believe in a "great beyond," although I have no way of knowing what it is really like. I like the imagery used in depicting Heaven. I like the positive messages that Jesus left for us. I do not like those who use his name as an excuse to act like bigoted assholes.
