Humankind did not invent days. That was a creation of nature. The sun sets. The sun rises. In between the two darkness descends. It is not darkness to be scared off. It holds no monsters. The only monsters are those of the imagination. Humankind made monsters but not days.
All the days contain the same message. A new day has dawned. A new day of living. A new day is the first day of the rest of my life. The names of the days come from the active minds of humans who name everything as they have the greatest animal brains. If their actions were not so often appalling I would humbly suggest that humans are angels. That as the smartest ape on the planet we have a purpose. That purpose isn't to create another concept, that of money, not that having money is bad, just the worshipping of it. Humankind as angels does have a purpose. To ensure their own survival and that of the home they share and by doing so all life on our homeworld.
The days' names come from our varied cultures. My culture is of the island I live on. Not the nation-state which is a concept created manufacturing control but the culture that named the day I was born on, Thor's day. The culture that has shires, hundred moots, "After you on the bus." I love my culture. Like all cultures it is at its best when it mixes with others. From that mix evolves another culture. Curry. Reggae. "Are you guys okay?"
Today is Sunday. A day named after the Sun. A sun god maybe. Helios? For me, Sunday remains the day, not so much of rest but of family. Family is community. From the community comes culture. Sunday is not "tired and grey." That Sunday is of the mind. A mind that is captive to itself. Today is Sunday. Another day to be alive on. Another day that is the first day of the rest of our lives.
Happy Sunday.
