Hilarious Signs of the Apocalypse: A Wee Scotsman on a Talking Horse

If you were a teenager in the 1980's like I was, and you grew up in the United States, you remember this shit. Come remember this shit with me, or, if you're too young to remember, you can read about this shit and wonder how anyone could possibly be so stupid.
http://www.vh1.com/news/54726/remembering-the-80s-heavy-metal-satanic-panic/
Taking this little stroll down Ridiculous Memory Lane has brought me to a startling conclusion about the end of the world.
Are you ready?
After reading (and laughing at) the aforementioned shit, I have come to the conclusion that the Apocalypse will be marked not by four horsemen, but by a single horseman: Angus Young, riding on Mr. Ed, while carrying a cache of Dungeons and Dragons manuals in his backpack.
You see, The Apocalypse will be ludicrous rather than terrifying. I, for one, have my 20 sided dice ready to roll. Who's bringing snacks?

Not exactly a replacement for Nostradamus, but probably funnier

Here is like a for real top seekrit AC/DC Devil Worshiping Ceremony caught live on tape and stuff by our super spy team. Look at this wickedness. Just look at it!
Angus Young's RED guitar and hat.
Malcolm Young's RED tank top.
Hordes of RED capped minions!
Giant iguanas!
Pterodactyls!
The only thing that could make it more wicked and diabolical would be Mr. Ed!
You'll have to read the article.

The Cheese Grates It: Questioning the Faith One Was Raised With

Before reading this, please keep in mind that I have no intent to insult anyone's faith in a supreme being. I am an agnostic who believes in the possibility of a supreme being or beings. My thoughts on the nature of said supreme being or beings are theory. For me, the belief in a supreme being or the possibility thereof is removed from adherence to religious dogma.
Religion is a system created by people, ostensibly to honor the supreme being or beings which are the object of worship. Like any other tool, it can be used in either a constructive or destructive manner.
That being said, I have found that religion is used destructively a disproportionate amount of the time, and thus my thoughts towards it tend to be cynical. However, I acknowledge that there are truly good people who utilize religion in a positive way, and I fully support these people and feel that they are positive representatives working on behalf of the deity or deities of their belief system.
I often cite the good people with the Christian organization Faithful America. Please take a moment to see what they are about and to support them.

And now, on to the subject of the post.

A young woman on a Facebook forum was expressing feelings of sadness and doubt regarding her faith in what I refer to at this point in my life as the Church God. Here is what she had to say:

Is okay to be angry with God? It hurts me to see people suffering especially babies and child. When you hear terrible news about the bombings in Syria or the fact that a evil man becomes president and now everyone is frighten for the future. Makes me doubt a divine being even exist. What do I do? Do I keep being angry? Or just accept the fact that I'm losing my faith and accept that the world for the way it is?

The following are the thoughts I had for her.

My personal belief is that there is a higher power or powers but it/they are not what the church taught us. Most religions have their basis in politics rather than spirituality and exist to control people. I think whatever powers there be are not particularly involved with the affairs of humanity. They are more architects of the Universe, one might say. Anyway, that is my thought on it. I was raised Catholic and for many years struggled with the idea on one hand that God was all powerful and all loving and yet allowed horrible atrocities to take place. I understand your feelings about this.

My further thoughts:
I "lost my religion" at eighteen, although I had been questioning for quite some time before that. I probably would not have lost my religion had it not been for the judgmental people I met who accused me of being a "devil worshiper" for being curious about the nature of the Universe, for not being comfortable with the idea that people get condemned to eternal torture for not believing in the existence of the Church God, and for liking that evil, evil rock and roll blasphemy. I was disgusted by the "Satanic Panic" believers who accused innocent people of terrible acts.
Rigid and judgmental attitudes pushed me away from the church. I might not literally burst into flames if I have to step into a church at this point, but I'm not comfortable doing so either.
At this point, I adhere to what Marcus Aurelius so wisely said, and I imagine I will continue to do so for the remainder of this lifetime.

The Cheese Grates It: The Satanic Panics Were and Are Stupid

Just putting this out there.
Obviously I'm still pissed off about this because I've never forgotten it.
Back in the day, ya know, when dinosaurs roamed and we had to fear being crushed by brontosaurus with their big feet and walnut brains, I was in high school, and I had a really bad reputation for being a "devil worshiper."
There seemed to be two reasons for this.
One was my belief that government sanctioned health care "such as they have in Sweden"was a good idea.
The other was my love for what became known as "classic rock" music, especially a weird little band known for a weird little guy who sometimes wore a hat with devil horns and was infamous for dropping trou and mooning the audience.
Call Angus Young cheeky--hell, call the entire band cheeky, and you're right. But I never understood for one minute how people could accuse them of being evil.
I think I'm feeling particularly sensitive about it at the moment, having read how Angus makes sure to frequently contact his very sick, dying brother, even though he's said that his brother "isn't in there at all any more."
Angus always tells Malcolm that he loves him and that everyone misses him, even though he isn't sure if anything he says gets through.
What an evil, evil bastard. What kind of a monster does that?
Angus also said that disbanding after Malcolm could no longer continue might have been the right thing to do, but back when they first started, if you didn't play, you didn't eat, and that has always stuck with him.
You don't forget being really poor, which these guys were.
I initially liked them for their music. I wouldn't have noticed them if it hadn't been for that. Once I found out what kind of people they were, I liked them even more because of that.
I guess I've never understood how people can start really nasty, baseless rumors about other people. I never understood the Satanic Panic crap, not even for a minute. I can tell you that rather than making me want to become more religious, it pushed me away from religion. Even though I feared that I might be going to some sort of hell, because I was raised with those beliefs, I wasn't going to join in a witch hunt.
It's a real lark that people are still talking this kind of shit today.
Ask me again why I think humans are the creator's biggest mistake.
I'm really not a complete misanthrope, even though such a statement might make me appear to be one. I like people one on one, unless they give me reason not to. It's the human race as a whole that I have problems with.
